Garage Parking

Downtown Bethesda has 17 strategically placed public garages and surface lots that put you within a short walking distance to your destination. The following areas of downtown Bethesda have ample parking available during evenings and weekends, and also have several long-term meters for a stay in downtown Bethesda that will be more than four hours:

  • Auburn Avenue and Del Ray Avenue Garage
  • Woodmont Avenue and Old Georgetown Road Garage
  • Woodmont Avenue and Edgemoor Lane Garage

Garage Parking Rates:

  • Cordell/St. Elmo garage, Waverly garage, Bethesda/Elm garage: $1.75/hour
  • Woodmont/Old Georgetown garage, Capital Crescent garage, Woodmont/Rugby garage, Auburn/Del Ray garage, Cheltenham garage, Woodmont/Edgemoor garage : $1.50/hour 
  • Parking lots : $2.00/hour 

Parking is free in Montgomery County parking garages and surface lots on Sundays and County holidays.

On Street Parking

On-street meters have parking that is available Monday through Saturday from 9am – 10pm for $2.25 per hour. These short-term spaces are for downtown Bethesda customers who are planning to be in Bethesda for only one or two hours since the meters at these spaces are one and two hour meters. On-street parking is free on Sundays and Montgomery County holidays.

Feeding the meter beyond posted times is prohibited by Montgomery County. Please read and heed all on-street parking meters and signs.

* For longer term parking, please consider using one of Bethesda’s many garages and surface lots.

Downtown Bethesda is easily accessible by Metro, car, bus and bicycle. Bethesda has 16 public parking garages and surface lots, marked with a blue “P”, that put you within a short walk of downtown Bethesda destinations.

Parking rates are as follows: 

  • On-street parking: $2.25/hour
  • Surface lot parking: $1.50/hour
  • Cordell/St. Elmo garage, Waverly garage, Bethesda/Elm garage: $1.25/hour
  • Woodmont/Old Georgetown garage, Capital Crescent garage, Woodmont/Rugby garage, Auburn/Del Ray garage, Cheltenham garage, Woodmont/Edgemoor garage: $1.00 hour
