How are artists selected for the Bethesda Artist Market?

Bethesda Artist Market artists are selected through an application process. The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District puts out a call for entries twice per year - in the winter for the June and July Markets and in the summer for the September and October Markets. When applications are available, interested artists can download an application from this site or send a self-addressed stampled envelope to: Bethesda Artist Market, c/o Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District, 7700 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.

What is required for the application?

Interested artists must submit a completed application form, five slides of their work or five digital images on a CD, one slide of their booth display from a past festival, a $10 application fee and a $50 booth fee (separate checks).

When is the next application deadline?
The fall 2008 markets have already been juried. Check back this winter form information regarding the summer 2009 markets.

Who is eligible to participate in the Bethesda Artist Market?
Any individual artist who is aged 18 or older. All accepted artists must provide their own white 10'X10" tent.

What type of work is eligible?
All original work that is executed by the accepted artist is eligible for sale at the Bethesda Artist Market (including but not limited to painting, pottery, sculpture, photography, jewelry, wood, glass, mixed media, hand wovens, mixed fabric, furniture, printmaking, etc.).

What type of work is NOT eligible?

Work produced with commercial kits (e.g. molds, patterns, prefabricated forms) or other commerical methods is not eligible. Studios that produce works in volume are not eligible. T-Shirts and commercial clothing are not eligible.
